Coco Peat Manufacturing

At Pure Roots Family, the manufacturing of Coco Peat involves an eight-stage process with rigorous quality checks before they are delivered to our clients.

Step 1.

Coconut Husk Processing

Coconut husks are processed in our Coconut Fibre Mills to obtain coir fibre, leaving behind a byproduct – a soft material that holds the coconut fibre within the husk – known as coco coir or coco peat, which serves as the primary raw material for the Coco Coir based Growing Medium

Step 2.

Washing of Raw Coco Peat

Coir Pith is rinsed with clean water to reduce its electrical conductivity, which indicates the salt content, allowing plant roots to absorb water more effectively.

Step 3.

Drying of Washed Coco Peat

Wet Coir pith is subsequently dried in concrete areas to decrease its moisture level to the optimal amount needed for proper compaction.

Step 4.

Sorting

Dried Coir Pith is categorized according to its electrical conductivity and moisture content

Step 5.

Sifting and Sieving

Sorted Coir Pith is carefully sifted and screened to eliminate fine dust particles and obtain the appropriately sized grains according to the specifications for the growing medium.

Step 6.

Sifting and Sieving

Sifted coco pith is blended with coco chips and coco coir based on the substrate specifications, processed mechanically to achieve a uniform mixture

Step 7.

Compaction of Coco Peat

The substrate mixture is compressed in hydraulic presses to achieve the desired size

Step 8.

Compaction of Coco Peat

Individual coco substrates are packaged according to the specifications (sealed in grow bags or shrink wrapped with or without labels, or packed in cartons) before being transferred to our stock godown for palletising and shipping
